You know, I've really been slacking lately! My passion has always been writing and fashion yet I just have not been keeping up with either. I've been in a funk. The goal with this blog and Instagram is to post daily but I have failed. And honestly I don't mind sharing about it. For one, when your "day job" doesn't line up with your passion it creates a problem 5 out of 7 days of the week. Until I can sort that out, I refuse to be in a blah mood.

Just recently I had a discussion about what my ideal work day would consist of. Here's what it would be:

7ish a.m. - Wake up with no alarm and proceed to complete some cardio at the gym.
8:30ish a.m. - Make breakfast.. but not a basic, rushed breakfast. A delicious, colorful experiment of flavors (can you tell it's my favorite meal?) 😋 While eating this breakfast, emails and planning the day will begin.
9:45ish a.m. - Get ready then leave for work.
11ish a.m. - Arrive to work then complete 5 solid hours of work. Whenever I'm hungry, a 45 min to 1 hour snack would be had.
5 p.m. promptly - Leave work.

Let's face it.. I am completely aware that a standard work day is 8 hours. Do I agree with this norm? No. I don't believe we are productive all 8 hours. I also don't believe that rushing to work each day is good for your health, mental or otherwise. Unfortunately, I am not in the field where I have the liberty to choose my schedule. My current day begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 5, with few exceptions when I get stuck later in the office. Now, I know that I'm not the only one who is drained when they finally get home from work! Did you notice that all my times had an 'ish' after it? I strongly believe that *having to be somewhere at a specific time* every day is emotionally draining and can wear on you. There are definitely ways to beat this funk.

I have decided that I will do something to uplift my daily mood, and began on April 1. I am vowing for the next 30 days to do something for myself each day. It's not selfish or self centered, but necessary self care. Also, it's nothing huge or extravagant. Yesterday I decided to embark on a 7-10 day Vegan cleanse. (The days are varying because I'm not sure how long I'll last 😂) This cleanse is meant to reset my system and to feel/be healthier for the rest of the year. Today I woke up early and went to the gym and grocery store before work. By doing these little things in the morning, I am giving myself time to read when I finish work. I really enjoy reading and haven't been able to finish "Becoming" because of lack of focus.

Each day I will think of a small pat on the back or beneficial action that I can do to be the best version of myself. I definitely know the struggle of being obligated to the daily grind! Just remember it's important to do things to promote your internal growth. Work to live people! Don't live to work!!
